Beth W. Roberts graduated from Davidson College (2000) with a B.A. in English literature and received her M. A. in English literature from the University of Richmond (2006). She worked as an English teacher and literacy tutor for over two decades at the middle and high school level, as well as providing guidance to high school seniors on their application essay processes during this time. She has three published children’s books: The Christmas Spider (2015); Albert (2017), which won first place in both the 2019 Royal Dragonfly Awards for both children’s book illustrations and for children’s activity books; and Be A Smile Maker (2020). Most recently, she completed her M.A.Ed. in Reading and Literacy from East Carolina University (2026), focusing on the building blocks of individual literacy needs and best practices for student growth as both a reader and a writer. Beth lives in the mountains of North Carolina with her husband and three children. She is passionate about supporting her local community, the importance of early literacy, the wonders of the Shakespeare stage, the sport of swimming, baking homemade sourdough, a strong cup of coffee, and a great book on quiet mornings. Her two eldest children are currently in college at Duke University and UNC Chapel Hill, and each wrote vastly different and uniquely-their-own personal essays to get there.
